Haughty but gorgeous Ruby has won her country's main beauty pageant. The next runner-up, jealous but fiery Gloria, is made to act as her assistant and valet--much to her chagrin--for the "Miss Whole Wide World" competition. Ruby has chosen an escape act with which to compete in the talent portion--a risky decision as she soon finds out. With Gloria tying Ruby inescapably backstage, the stage is set for Gloria to take her place.
